I first cut my own bangs when I was three. I remember the chill of the metal blades and the crisp snip they made as they sliced through my hair. That sound was magic to me — the beginning of something I didn’t yet understand but instantly loved. I was hooked from the start.

At twelve, I cut off all my hair — not out of pre-teen rebellion, but out of solidarity for my best friend. She had to shave her head for medical reasons, and I couldn’t stand to see her feel alone. So, I joined her. It was then I realized how powerful hair could be — not just as self-expression, but as connection, empathy, and courage.

In high school, I could never sit still in any class that wasn’t art or P.E. I craved color, creativity, and movement. You could count on me to ditch school, sneak into the art room, or swipe dye and developer to experiment on my own hair — or talk my brother into letting me test new shades on his.

What started as curiosity grew into obsession — a lifelong love affair with transformation, confidence, and craft. Hair became my canvas, my language, my way of making people feel seen and beautiful. From that first uneven bang to every precise snip and perfect tone today, I’ve never stopped chasing the magic that started with a pair of scissors in my tiny hands.
